All Ports Group — Online Cargo Tracking
We helped a freight company give clients real-time shipment visibility without adding work for its operations team.
The Challenge
In freight and logistics, shipment information lives inside operational systems while customers depend on staff to relay it. Every status question becomes a phone call or an email that someone has to stop and answer.
That pattern produces:
- Repetitive customer enquiries about the same shipments
- Slow response times, bounded by staff availability
- Heavy dependence on individual staff knowledge
- Limited client visibility into cargo movement
- Duplication of information across systems and inboxes
Understanding the Operation
The work began with how cargo information actually moves through the business — where a shipment record is created, who updates it, and at which points a customer needs to see it. The gap was not a missing website. It was that operational data had no route to the customer.
The Solution
We connected the company's operational ERP to a customer-facing digital experience, so shipment information reaches clients directly rather than through staff.
- Shipment status visibility through the website
- Customer portal with client account access
- Integration with operational ERP data
- Cargo tracking against live shipment records
- Customer credentials issued and managed centrally through the ERP
- Staff training and operational adoption
How It Works
Shipment lookup accepts the identifiers customers actually hold, rather than forcing them to know an internal reference:
- Bill of Lading (BL)
- Master Bill of Lading (MBL)
- House Bill of Lading (HBL)
- File reference
- Container number
The operations team continues to work in the ERP. Shipment information flows from there to both the public tracking interface and the authenticated customer portal, so there is one source of truth rather than a second system to maintain.
Outcome
- Customers gained self-service visibility of shipment status.
- Shipment information became accessible outside the ERP without duplicating it.
- Staff could issue and manage customer portal credentials centrally.
- Multiple shipment identifiers could be used to retrieve the same record.
